The Newburyport/West Newbury Animal Control urges the public to help locate a loosely wandering llama after it escaped the fields.

In a Facebook post, Newburyport asks for public cooperation to help reunite the lost animal with its family.

According to witnesses, they found the llama wandering alone in the field of Hale St. They’re also wondering where the animal came from, saying it was their first time to see such an animal in the fields.

Authorities were able to catch the animal and transferred it to Tiny Acres Farm in New Hampshire. The poor animal will remain in its custody temporarily until authorities find sufficient evidence from the investigation.

The animal control is also asking the llama’s owner or anyone with significant information on the animal’s real owner to contact the authorities.

“The llama is being held temporarily at a local farm until we can locate his owners. Thank you all to everyone who made calls to help try and reunite this guy with his family,” the post said.

Up to now, officials are still trying to figure out the origin of the said animal.
