Book RETURNED to Indiana Library After 52 Years

Someone returned a book to an Indiana library 52 years after the person borrowed it.

According to news agency United Press International, a package postmarked from New Mexico arrived.

The book, Little Men by Louisa May Alcott, arrived in the mail along with a letter from a woman.

In a Facebook post, the Kokomo-Howard County Public Library said she checked it out when she was only 11 years old.

The woman, who now lives in Santa Fe, said she came across the book while sorting through her books recently.

She the decided to mail it to the library along with an apologetic note and a check for a donation to the library.

Meanwhile, someone returned a borrowed book to a library in Ireland after 64 years in his custody.

According to various news reports online, it has the title “The Hedge and the Horse.”

The Monaghan Town Library said the borrower been checked out the book on Jan. 11, 1957.

Executive Librarian Kay Cassidy said the library already got rid of late fees in 2019.

But at the 1957 rate, the said book would have amassed about $2,000 in fines.
