Paeng Min-wook, 28, said the device is a robotic eye; he also calls it as the 3rd eye.

He said it is for smartphone addicts that can’t just put away their phones even while walking. Users can wear this device on their head so they can walk safely even while they’re busy browsing the internet or chatting with someone.

Mr. Paeng told the media: “This is the look of future mankind with three eyes.” The South Korean designer is also a post graduate in innovation design engineering at the Royal College of Art and Imperial College London.

“As we cannot take our eyes off from smartphones, the extra eye is a necessity in the future.”

Reports said the 3rd eye opens its translucent eyelid whenever it senses its user lowering its head. It will then start alerting the person by beeping whenever it senses an obstacle one to two meters away.

The device will play as the user’s 3rd eye, preventing them from sustaining from injuries whenver their glued to their screens.

Nevertheless, the designer’s device is actually a warning rather than a solution for users who can’t just pay attention to where they’re going.

“By presenting this satirical solution, I hope people will recognize the severity of their gadget addiction and look back at themselves,” he said.
