Doctors in Singapore have warned that working from home may result in a lot of health effects – both mild and severe.

According to online site Mashable, the most common health side effects include back aches, neck strain, migraine and tension headaches.

Sunil Kumar Joseph, a medical practitioner, said those who have poor posture could develop other painful symptoms.

In addition, work from home setup allows “job creep.” It is a phenomenon when boundaries between “work” and “home” blurs out.

One example is the constant need or habit to look on gadgets to check work emails, regardless of the time.

“People are more stressed and anxious as there are more meetings and the boundaries between work and play are not there,” said Alvina Nam, a doctor.

There are other more serious side effects of working from home, such as myopia, cracked teeth and eczema, among others.

Dermatologist Lynn Chiam said higher levels of stress may lead to increased skin sensitivity, making it more susceptible to allergens.

Other people have complained of shortness of breath made worse by extra weight gain from lack of activity.
