A man in East China’s Jiangxi Province in late May this year reported his dealer to a local police station after giving him a fake meth.

According to the Global Times report, the man, identified with the surname Yi, spent $1,290 to acquire the drugs.

Authorities said in a statement that the man planned to sell the drugs to his friends. However, not only did he fail to sell out the meth, he was also mocked for buying fake meth.

He realized he was scammed only after he was already selling the drugs to his other friends.

“My friend smoked two bags of meth I bought him, but felt nothing,” Mr. Yi told the police.

Feeling outraged and betrayed, he called the dealer, identified as Mr. Zhu. However, the dealer did not return his calls.

“I put my trust in him. I even gave him a dealer fee each time I bought stuff,” Mr. Yi further explained to the police.

During the investigation, the police discovered the two involved men worked together at a decoration company three years ago. Mr. Zhu was then a site supervisor in the company while Mr. Yi was under his team.

The police said Mr. Yi quit in the middle of a project, causing Zhu more than $430 in losses.

To pay him back for his irresponsibility, Zhu planned the “fake drug” scheme, asking his upstream vendor to “mix sugar or whatever with the drug”.
