According to Daily Mail, people who eat at least three portions of whole grains a day experience smaller increases in waist sizes. High intake participants have lover blood pressure and sugar levels; this is compared to those who ate less in a day. Whole grain food includes whole-grain beard, rolled oats, and brown rice.

Experts from Tufts University in Massachusetts observed how eating whole grains impacted individuals for over the period of 18 years. They later found that eating these foods protected them from the following factors of heart diseases: waist size, blood pressure, blood sugar, triglyceride, and HDL cholesterol.

The scientists gathered data from the Framingham Heart Study Offspring Cohort. It includes 3,100 participants who were mostly white and averagely in their mid-50s.

Results show there is a one inch increase in low intake participants while high intake participants only increase by ½ in waist size. Further, high intake participants have significantly lower levels of blood pressure and sugar.
