The clothing line is best for minimalists who are at the same time lovers of literature and the said novelist’s works.

This recent project of Haruki Murakami proves that it’s time to stop calling him a “reclusive.” Over the last years he was a literary radio host, and now, a fashion icon.

SoraNews 24 reported that there are eight designs from Haruki Murakami x UT collection. These feature his works, aesthetic sensibilities, and philosophical musings.

“Norwegian Wood” has the simplest design, illustrating only the novel’s title and author in stylised font. Meanwhile, “Kafka on the Shore” includes a silhouette of a bird with an excerpt from the novel in Japanese.

1Q84 shirt lives up to its introspection concept of the novel as the person wears it in front of a mirror.

Meanwhile, the two tops about the writer’s ongoing work, Murakami Radio. It features a cat sitting at a writing desk which was used to advertise his Tokyo radio show.

One design also includes his quote: “For me, the trick to writing a novel, or shall I say elements, is the same as music. First, there must be a rhythm. Then you need harmony. And improvisations. These three elements are extremely crucial for me.”
