Global fast food chain KFC is ditching its “Finger Lickin’ Good” slogan in advertisements until the coronavirus pandemic is over.

Tabloid newspaper Mirror said the company has decided to halt its signature slogan due to the ongoing health crisis.

“We find ourselves in a unique situation – having an iconic slogan that doesn’t quite fit in the current environment,” said KFC.

The food chain revealed its new look through a YouTube video, showing the slogan pixelated on posters and its food buckets.

The company admitted it had set itself a major headache trying to find a substitute slogan. It said the famous catchphrase was enough to identify its fried chicken pieces for more than six decades.

“People often say that it’s the second movie that’s hardest to get right. The follow-up, the next step, said Kate Wall, head of advertising at KFC U.K.

The management, however, vowed to make a return for the iconic slogan once the pandemic is over.

The move came after Twitter users slammed the company’s ads for being in bad taste as the world reels from the adversarial impact of COVID-19.
