A man named Sebastien Allain was just kite-surfing in Nova Scotia’s Chezzetcook Bay when a strong gust of wind drove the kite straight in the middle of the sea when he found a message in a bottle.

As soon as he went home, he uncorked the bottle and found a three-page long note, along with a diamond ring.

Allain, who just proposed to his fiancee a week before, found the timing strange yet coincidental.

According to the letter, the letter belongs to a 70-year-old man who had been launching messages in bottles for about 30 years. The ring belonged to his mother who died in 2018.

Allain and his partner paid it forward and visited the man in their house. They brought him small gifts and a little box of chocolate.

The man said it’s not the first time he has received gifts from the recipients of his messages in bottles. One of his bottles was discovered by a teacher, and since then, the old man received Christmas cards from students.

The man said it’s his pleasure to make people happy through his bottles.
