Darren Dowling, a Scottish vlogger, shared how he leaves his room every time he checks out.

“I always try and leave a hotel room like this. Is this the right or wrong thing to do?” Dowling asked his Facebook followers.

Dowling would completely remove the sheets from the foam and arranged the blankets at the corner of the bed.

“I don’t bother folding it because I know they’re only going to pick it up and put it in a bag,” he added.

The man did not expect his post to blow up and start a debate about whether it was a good gesture or not.

“As a housekeeper, this makes me very happy when customers do this,” one commenter wrote.

Another one said that even if hotels pay them to clean, “it’s human decency to just clean up after yourself.”

However, other commenters begged to differ.

One man claimed that the staff might become suspicious of this unusual altruism.

A hotel occupant also had to pay because he left the room “too messy.”

“I stripped the beds and put any rubbish in a bin bag and put them nicely in the corner of the room. Had to pay 60 Euros.”

In addition to people arguing over this etiquette, some people joked about leaving the sheets in odd shapes.

They would prefer their sheets rolled up and looking like a dead body.

Meanwhile, a hotel manager believed that this gesture is class.

“Guests like you make our days a little easier,” the manager commented.
