While police in Thailand are trained as undercover agents for special circumstances, this man disguises as a cop. Praiwan Gamolsingh, faked as a police to get hotel discounts and other rewards at Rai Rung Pol resort.

Last April 7, the man checked in at the hotel and identified himself as Rong Um; the name translates to Deputy Commissioner Um. He also informed the staff that he’s from Chiang Mai’s Provincial Region 5 precinct.

Nevertheless, Suchart Bentanoot, the resort’s general manager, said he always frequents the establishment. He also said he once even brought about four of his fellow “officers” for a two-night stay last March.

Recently, the fake deputy commissioner booked one of the resort’s Bubble Rooms which costs were from ฿2,500 (~USD80) per night from 7th-21st April 2021. But due to his occupation, the resort offered him a special rate of ฿900 (~USD29) per night to stay in one of the VIP rooms.

When the resort asked him to pay his tab which required him to show his ID, he suddenly changed his attitude.

Growing suspicious over the man, the resort notified the real police, who later arrested the imposter and confiscated all of his “law enforcement attire.”
