A woman from Massachusetts, United States reunited with her pet dog who went missing five years ago.

According to news agency United Press International, a resident found her pet wandering about 10 miles from home.

Renee Perry said Bay, a basenji mix, went missing from her home in June 2016 after her sitter left her unattended.

Perry said she almost lost hope in finding her pet until she received a message last week.

Missing Dogs Massachusetts volunteers said a woman spotted a dog who visited her yard at least once a day.

The rescuers then scanned the canine for a microchip and discovered she was the long-missing Bay.

“[H]er nose was darker; she just looked heavier; she just looked different,” Perry told reporters.

Meanwhile, a family in Texas reunited with their lost pet dog nearly three years later.

According to various news reports posted online, he turned up at one of the local shelters.

The owner, Eileen Russell, said her dog, Rocky, disappeared after wandering her property in Waco.

“We put posters all, rode around on my ATV, rode around in the car, looking, looking everywhere for him,” Russel added.
