A video of a large “monitor lizard” went viral in early April this year after entering a convenience store in Thailand to cool down and shop for milk.

According to Smart Local Thailand, the Tua Ngern Tua Thong or a monitor lizard is a common sight in Thailand. It wanders around parks but also goes down the streets as if it is a city dweller.

The video shows the monitor lizard casually crawling toward the back of the store where the milks were.

Later on, it tried to climb up the shelf, ignoring the falling boxes of milk. Customers present inside then realized the reptile just wanted to cool off from the intense summer heat.

Upon reaching the top, it appeared relaxed andlonged.

One customer during that time shared: “I only stopped at the shop to buy some food and then saw the huge monitor lizard inside. I wanted to buy a drink but the animal was too close to the drinks aisle.”

“They’re dangerous animals, especially when they’re angry, so I stayed back and recorded it on my phone. I guess that shops have everything, even for lizards,” another customer said.
