While it may sound ancient as hell, you can take a trip down memory lane to the old days of home buttons and bulky icons.

According to Mashable (via The Verge), an 18-year-old developed an open-source project that uses SwiftUI to bring back a near pixel-perfect iOS 4, from the unlock slider and original wallpapers.

It also recreates the old versions of many iOS apps like Photos, Maps, Safari, and Notes.

For those wondering about the notch, OldOs makes the experience nearly authentic with a fat black bar on top of the app. Can you believe that wasn’t a thing 10 years ago?

While some parts of the old iOS can no longer be genuinely replicated, the technology it took to create this is quite impressive and even user-friendly as a secondary OS for all you oldies.

If you really, really loved iOS 4, from the drawn Home button to the iMessage-less Messages app, this app turns your iPhone 12 Pro Max (or whichever you have) ancient with an edge.

To install OldOS, you should get Apple’s app tester called TestFlight first. Developers and beta mode enthusiasts can find the project’s source code over there.
