According to the National Herald India, Beconganj police picked up the goat and took it to the police station in a jeep.

The YouTube video posted last July 27 shows the police in Kanpur district arresting a goat not wearing a mask.

After learning that the police took his livestock, the owner immediately rushed to the police station. He pleaded to the cops to return his pet to him.

The police issued the owner a warning to not allow the animal to roam on the road.

One of the policemen who arrested the goat said it violated a lockdown rule for not wearing a mask.

“People are now making their dogs wear a mask so why not a goat?” he said. Later on, the police apparently changed his version of the story after it became viral on social media.

Meanwhile, Saifuddin Beg, circle officer of the Anwarganj police station, reiterated that they found a child with the animal not wearing a mask.

“When he saw the police, he ran away leaving it behind. The policemen brought the animal to the police station. Later, we handed over the goat to its owner,” he explained during the interview.
