A restaurant in East China redefines “hot” in its hotpot service as it puts buff, topless men as its waiters.

Unlike the other “more family-friendly” hotpot spots in Xi’an Province, this restaurant hired a group of men to serve as buff, topless men to its customers.

Special services of the waitstaff include serving tables, posing for group photos, and even accompanying customers for meals. Throughout the service, they wear nothing but aprons and trousers.

Meanwhile, local reports said the shop’s stunt attracted many local female customers.

Mr. Ma Yu, the owner of the hotpot restaurant, confirmed that all of his servers are models. He also revealed that the turnover rate increased dramatically in the restaurant daily, with the number of female customers in particular seeing a significant increase.

Further, he said he hopes to “bring visual enjoyment and pleasant experience to all the customers.”

Each employee makes up US$61.97 for every six hour shift. Yang Lei, one of the staff, explained that this side-gig is the perfect opportunity for him to supplement his income.

Many netizens praised the restaurant’s marketing scheme. However, others said the restaurant should have just focused more on improving its food quality rather than using the topless men stunt to woo customers.
