According to Coconuts Singapore, Leslie Koh managed to sell a discarded Sony PlayStation box he found in a trash bin.

“On Thursday, I was going to my void deck to throw some rubbish when Ii spotted a pristine PS5 box that someone had just thrown away.

“I thought to myself, Christmas is coming and this would make a great prank!” he exclaimed in a Facebook post on Saturday.

Picked up from trash

For instance, Koh spotted the box at his housing void deck upon picking up the trash and immediately offered it to buyers on Carousell.

“Use it to prank your male friends or buddies this Xmas!” the sale description reads, with unashamed and explicit gender bias.

Later on, within just hours, an interested customer inquired Koh and offered his full asking price of SG$30.

Bidding and success

Eventually, despite some doubts, he accepted and thought receiving SG$30 for a piece of trash might as well be worthwhile.

“Within a day, I received a message that someone was interested but I was skeptical. And then it happened,” he continued.

“I SOLD IT. A BOX THAT I PICKED [UP] FOR NOTHING AND MADE $30,” his caption reads in the same Facebook post.

However, Koh also reminded those interested in getting a PS5 for Christmas to be wary of pranksters like him.

A warning

“Manage your expectations if you’re getting a PS5 for Christmas. It might be just the box,” he added.

On the other hand, the latest gaming console launched in November currently retails for S$899.

To add, most resale sites mark up the PS5 to over SG$1,000 due to high demand.
