A suspect in China faked fainting for three days to avoid police interrogation but suddenly woke up when he smelled the curry beef rice.

Reports said authorities arrested the man from Hubei Province’s Xiaogan for fraud in early July this year. However, the man pretended to faint for three days to avoid questioning.

Authorities said the hospital staff tried several methods to wake him up to no avail. However, he awakened to the smell of curry beef rice at his bedside.

He then saw the officer eating his meal beside him while waiting for hime to wake up. The man then told the police the food smelled appetizing, to which the guarding officer agreed. 

“The rice’s smell was very strong and spread all over the room as I was eating it,” the officer narrated. “Then he started moving his head and slowly got up.”

Later on, the suspect admitted he tried to suffering from severe trauma and fake fainted to avoid investigation. However, he finally woke up because of the food as he hasn’t eaten for three days already.

“I haven’t eaten for three days. My empty stomach couldn’t bear it anymore when I smelled food around me,” the suspect said.
