Taylor Swift breaks a record with 6th No. 1 Album

Taylor Swift has again broken music records with her 6th Album topping the Billboard Music Charts. In particular, “Lover” debuted at Number 1 with 867,000 copies sold during its first week. According to reports, more than 80% of the total sales were physical copies, while the rests were online purchases and streams. With the sales, she is the first female singer to top the 500,000 sales mark six times. Projections show that her newest album could sell up to 1 million copies; a feat she has done four times before.

Additionally, Swift also broke records for the most viewed music video on Youtube. Notably, her first release from Lover, “Me!”, a collaboration with Brandon Urie, reached 65 million views in less than 24 hours.

Notably, the phenomenon was a global one. In addition to North American and European sales, Taylor Swift’s album also topped China’s charts. Apparently, the new album became the most streamed and played the international full-length album in the country for 2019.

Incidentally, the 7th studio album of the American Country singer is the first where she has full creative control of the music produced.

On Saturday, Taylor Swift took to Twitter to thank her fans and supporters, otherwise known as Swifties. In the video, she says “I just have to say to you guys, thank you so much for one of the best weeks of my life. I can’t thank you enough,”.

Fans throughout the globe expect a world tour to be announced soon, following the record-breaking release of Lover. Accordingly, Taylor Swift’s team are already planning it.
