A man in Australia discovered that his kitchen ceiling had collapsed under the weight of two large pythons.

According to news organization Associated Press, David Tait, the owner of the house, immediately called reptile experts for help when he arrived home.

“I knew we hadn’t had rain, so I looked around to find what had caused it,” said Tait.

There he found two non-venomous carpet pythons both measuring above 2 meters long. The snakes have an estimated combined weight of 45 kilograms.

Steven Brown of Brisbane North Snake Catchers and Relocation said he responded as fast as he could.

“Both these snakes were two of the fattest snakes I’ve seen, as in the amount of muscle they had,” said Brown.

Brown said in a Facebook post that he determined the big serpents had fallen through the man’s kitchen ceiling before exploring the house.

The snake catcher said the male pythons were likely fighting over a nearby female snake when they crashed through the ceiling of the house.

The snakes were safely captured and relocated more than a half mile away from the man’s home.
