21-year-old vlogger Goldie Geanne Yabes was staying in Pampanga in July this year when she thought of paying a tribute to Dampe village.

In light of the pandemic, the vlogger decided to air out her creative frustrations by painting.

“We were locked down in Pampanga. I thought of creating a makeup illusion because the scenery in Dampe is really beautiful,” she told Coconuts Manila.

And her way of appreciating the place? She painted the stunning rice fields and clear skies – all over her face.

“I painted [the scene] on my face so that I would end up blending on the background,” she said in Filipino.

Yabes shared her creative process through her vlog that quickly went viral on Facebook with almost 3,600 shares.

Since then, her work (or rather her face) has been featured on several local websites and TV shows due to its novelty.

“This is so overwhelming and unexpected. I didn’t expect that people would respond to my work this way,” she said.

The working student currently goes to college in Baguio City, with a major in architecture.

When asked if she has been painting in her younger years, she responded, “No one taught me how to paint. I’ve always liked drawing since I was a child.

“I got better from joining competitions,” she added.

Yabes also said that she will continue to do more face painting, including Baguio’s tourist spots.
