In a statement disclosed with CNN, the couple wrote that “After much discussion and a long period of contemplation we have decided we are better off as friends, business partners and co-parents rather than life partners,”. Additionally, the letter states “We remain committed to our business, our values and most of all our children. Thank you for respecting our privacy at this time.”.

Zooey Deschanel, Pechenik plans to keep ties

Deschanel married film producer Jacob Pechenik in an intimate and secret ceremony in 2015. The couple has two children, 4-year-old Elsie Otter, and 2-year-old Charlie Wolf. Additionally, Deschanel and Pechenik co-owns two food companies, namely: Lettuce Grow and The Farm Project.

Despite the divorce, the couple assures that they remain to be very good friends who plan to work a smooth transition for their children and businesses. Accordingly, sources mention that the couple is very good parents to their two kids, and hope to work out a family plan on co-raising them. Additionally, reports say that both individuals plan to continue working together on their businesses despite the divorce.

Apparently, this is Zooey Deschanel’s second time to get a divorce. In 2008, Deschanel got engaged to Death Cab For Cutie and The Postal Service’s frontman Ben Gibbard. They married the following year. However, the indie couple divorced two years later citing the same reasons indicated in her second divorce. Despite this, reports say that the separation was mutual and amicable.
